TOP 5 "MISAPPREHENSIONS" REGARDING HINDUISM

TOP 5 MISCONCEPTION REGARDING HINDUISM.

Humans achieved a lot through these ages by their sheer hard work and dedication to build an ideal society. Their struggle to form a perfect community gives them the position of the most "supreme being" on earth.

But we never consider ourselves as the extraordinary mortals who is above every living creature because we believe in a unified supreme being that guides us to a correct path. That supreme being is "GOD".

As time passed by there were various interpretation that claims the existence of God. This in turn resulted in the formation of different religions that varies in principles and ideals regarding their faith to a supreme being. Out of these distinct religious beliefs, there is Hinduism that turns out to be ancient in nature and pure by its numerous ideals.

Hinduism turns out to be the third-largest Religion in the world and over one billion people embrace it. The followers consider it to be more than a religion.

In this blog, I will explain the top 5 misconceptions regarding Hinduism

5)The caste system isn't an intrinsic part of Hinduism.

One of the biggest misconceptions regarding Hinduism is few people especially non-Hindus deem the caste system to be an intrinsic part of Hinduism. They try to connect the caste system which is inequitable in nature with this ancient theology hereby degrading the Sacredness of Hinduism.
The truth is thousands of years ago, the aristocrats and the Rich brahmins had framed this unfair system where a person's caste is determined from its heredity, not by his deeds and since then it has been mentioned in various Hindu texts. As a result it turned out to be a hierarchy and people started to follow it.
Even Lord Krishna had said "A caste is determined by temperament and vocation not by birth or heredity.

4) Hinduism doesn't mean a complete vegetarian population.

This is one of the common misapprehension by the westerners because they think that the Hindu community of India and Nepal follow vegetarianism. The recent facts show that about 30-35% of Hindus follow a vegetarian diet, whereas the rest of them eat meat occasionally.
The general cause behind a large vegetarian population is due to an entirely different perception regarding animals by the Hindus. Hindus deem animals as an innocent living soul that shouldn't be harmed.
3) 33 koti God and Goddesses:

Another major misapprehension regarding Hinduism is people misconceive the line " 33 Koti Devi - Devta" as 33 crore gods and goddesses. The truth is in Sanskrit Koti (crore) doesn't mean the numbers, instead, it's the different types of gods and goddesses.
Clearly mentioned in Yajur-Veda, Atharva-Veda, and most widely mentioned in Sathpatha brahmana that there are 33 different "types" of supreme divinities, not 33 crores gods and goddesses.

2) Hindus are not "idol worshippers"

Another prime misconception regarding Hinduism is "Sanatanis are idol worshippers".
Non- Hindus or Atheist society more often trolls Hindus by referring them as stone worshippers or idol believers. But in reality, those pictures and murtis we adore are actually a physical representation of supreme divinity. Their presence helps us to concentrate in our prayers.

1) Hinduism isn't a religion, it's a way of life.

Lastly, I would like to clarify that Hinduism isn't a religion, it's a way of life. It's like an ancient belief that provides us the knowledge to build an ideal society, where everyone has the freedom to express their views and opinions regarding any issues.
Hinduism is like a source that helps us to learn about the importance of Dharma. Dharma stands for laws that govern all activities of a particular mortal. It helps us to maintain an ambiance of harmony and peace

In this post, I am not trying to showcase any kind of religious supremacy. This post is solely based on an informational topic regarding a specific religious belief.

PEACE OUT.
