For some people, Hinduism plays the role of a saviour and for some, it’s a thesis that turned into a ridiculing factor because it contains kinds of stuff that any rational and scientific person will find unbelieving and absurd. Though Sanatan Dharma shares a lot of similarity with the ancient Greek religion (Hellenism) and has officially been perceived as the “oldest among all religions” still these achievements haven’t improved the status of Hindus in India.
It’s a shame that being a majority, Hindus are badly separated in the name of caste, race and other social norms. Though, it’s good to witness the voices of multiple Hindu factions who are working hard to obliterate the filthy idea of “Caste” from Indian society. They are striving hard to reform the Hindu community by differentiating between Dharma and Dharmic rituals and superstitious pursuit.
Allow me to share the two most important reasons behind the slow and steady downfall of the Hindu population in India.

1) Lack of Unity due to caste-based discrimination: Despite having an eminent set of philosophies the sole reason that led to the slow decline of Hinduism was a fabricated “caste-based discrimination”. To prove my point I can state that there are various references in Hindu texts that showcases the fluid nature of the “chaturvarna” or four-fold caste system which supported the idea of “varnas” per dispositions. On the contrary, we Hindus have “manusmriti” which openly supported the idea of caste discrimination. One of the most surprising aspects of Manusmriti was that it’s a highly contradictory text. In one shloka it tells about the fluidity of the caste system and in another shloka, it tells about the discrimination in the name of caste.
Though I am a practising Hindu, I believe that none of the religions and theologies is perfect. One should have the guts to accept the flaws of his/her religion and try their best to implement the positive aspects of their theology in their day to day life. So Hindus should swear to neither follow nor encourage anyone to discriminate in the name of caste. That’s the only way to prevent the extinction of Sanatan culture. Today Hinduism is declining because of the inanity of Hindus. It’s the result of the silly division among Hindus which is the outcome of the sudden demographic change in the Indian Subcontinent.
2) Sanatan Philosophies is quite an unknown set of ideas for most of the current Hindu population: According to me, the foremost reason behind this downtrodden situation of Hindus is their flawed erroneous upbringing by their parents. The eradication of the Gurukula system of education and the advent of Missionary institutions in India which introduced the modern system of education had somehow played a crucial role in alienating the natives of India from their roots.
I am not objecting to the modern system of education, but at the same time, we should also acknowledge the fact that we were isolated from our culture and this segregation is due to the lack of facilities imposed by the Indian government for Dharmic education in India. Currently, there are very few Gurukulas on Indian soil that provides education related to our religion. There are very few percentages of people in the Hindu society who have read and understood texts like Ramayana/ Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita. It’s a shame that being a part of an ancient religion we are unaware of our cultural symbol, we are unaware of our deities, we are not quite associated with the Hindu philosophies, despite having a Hindu ancestry.
How can we fix it?
“Educate, write and propagate” these three terms will be enough to attract a large number of people. There are multiple publishing houses as well as online articles that provide a pristine presentation of Hindu philosophies and historical events in regional languages. Read those texts, and try to acquire knowledge from them. Then you write articles on those philosophies you learned and try to circulate them online. That functions as a chain system which I recommend to be an accurate method of propagating the Sanatan (Hindu) philosophies.
This is only the first part of the detailed blog series on my personal opinion regarding the improper status of Hindus in Indian society. Being a community in the majority we are easy to be manipulated by fallacies and biased theories on our religion so it’s better to prevent yourself as well as others from getting accustomed to the credos of Sanatan Dharma
